Voice & Vision:

A Contemplative Workshop
in Vocalization and Visual Journaling

June 23–27, 2026
FRASCATI, ITALY (NEAR ROME)
Guided by Gudrun Bühler & Lisa Sonora

Express Yourself with Embodied Ease & Confidence

Voice & Vision is a five-day immersive workshop devoted to listening—deeply and attentively—through both image and sound, so that you can express yourself naturally, without self-consciousness.

Held in the historic setting of the Museo Tuscolano Scuderie Aldobrandini in Frascati, Italy (near Rome) this workshop brings together two complementary practices: visual journaling and voice work.

Together, they offer a spacious, grounded way to explore your creative expression without pressure, performance, or the need to produce finished work.

This is not an art technique class nor a vocal performance workshop.

The Voice & Vision workshop is an invitation into a living, human process of attention, expression, and inner exploration—supported by culture, history, and the shared presence of a small, intentional group.

Come Back To Easeful Expression That Feels Like You

Voice & Vision unfolds as a dialogue between image and sound.

In morning visual journaling sessions with Lisa Sonora, you’ll work in a sketchbook using a variety of art materials, collage, and writing.

The focus is on observation, curiosity, and inquiry rather than technique or outcome.

Drawing inspiration from the sketchbooks of Leonardo da Vinci and others who keep visual notebooks—where words, images, and ideas lived side by side—visual journaling is offered as a way of thinking on the page and giving form to inner experience without needing experience in making art.

Feel at Home in Your Own Voice

Where sound emerges naturally, instead of from efforting

In the afternoon, you’ll experience voice work with Gudrun Bühler, where you are invited into an intimate exploration of the voice through body awareness, breath, and focused work with vowels.

Based on traditions articulated by Lilly Lehmann and Herbert Caesari, this type of voice work emphasizes deep listening, physical alignment, and ease—allowing sound to emerge naturally rather than through force or effort.

Together, these practices cultivate a state of attentive presence in which expression becomes less about effort and more about connection.

It’s an easeful way of allowing image and sound to emerge from within you—from a place that feels grounded, alive, and authentically your own.

Why Gather for an Art Workshop in Italy

Frascati has long been a place of retreat and study—close to Rome, yet removed enough for attention to settle.

Holding this art workshop in Italy near Rome allows you to step outside your usual environment while remaining connected to a living cultural landscape.

Our sessions take place at the Museo Tuscolano Scuderie Aldobrandini, where history and inquiry shape the atmosphere of the work.

Over five days, the sustained rhythm of shared practice creates something increasingly rare: continuity and connection. Instead of dipping in and out, you stay with the process as your perspective shifts and attention deepens.

Your individual exploration is strengthened by the presence of others engaged in the same work—attentive, committed, and fully present.

Gudrun and Lisa participate fully in each other’s sessions, offering you continuous support throughout the week—so you are guided by both perspectives as image and voice begin to inform one another.

Evenings are intentionally open, giving you time to absorb the day’s discoveries at your own pace. Whether through a shared meal, a walk through town, or quiet time alone, the work continues to unfold naturally—without obligation or demands.

We Created The Voice & Vision Workshop For You

This workshop is for anyone who feels drawn to experience vocalizing and visual art as an intuitive and healing creative practice, free from pressure, performance, or critique.

You may be an artist, singer, writer, teacher, therapist, or simply someone curious about listening more deeply—to yourself and to others—so you can express yourself with more ease and freedom.

No prior experience with visual art or voice work is required. This workshop is designed to be accessible and welcoming to a wide range of backgrounds.

Why Come All the Way to Italy?

  • You clear your throat before you speak or soften what you really want to say.

  • You hear your voice and think, That’s not me.

  • You’ve bought so many art supplies, taken classes and still…aren’t really making art that feels like you.

  • You’ve been overwhelmed by how to start making art, or feel ashamed about beginning…yet again.

  • You want to make marks on the page without fear of being good enough or second-guessing yourself.

  • You’ve been waiting for better circumstances or the right time to focus on your creativity, and realize you could wait forever.

  • You’re craving in-person connection with people who care about depth — not performance...The kind where you look around the room and think, “Oh. These are my people.”

  • You’re curious about how your inner life could really impact they way you create and express yourself.

  • You’re in a place of personal change, love art, long to travel, and want each to inform the other.

  • Getting away to Italy for a contemplative art workshop sounds like the reason you’ve been waiting for to book a ticket to Rome.

  • You don’t want to do this alone, but in the company of others with shared experiences and desires.

Voice & Vision is a rare opportunity to spend five days in sustained creative inquiry

Held within a historic environment, supported by skilled guidance, and shared with a small group of people who have intentionally chosen to be there.

If you feel drawn to explore sound and image as ways of listening, sensing, and knowing yourself more fully, you are warmly invited to join us in Frascati, Italy.
